Department of Periodontics, People’s College Of Dental Science and Research Centre, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India The presence of furcation involvement is one clinical finding that can lead to a diagnosis of advanced periodontitis and potentially to a less favourable prognosis for the affected tooth or teeth. Furcation involvement therefore presents both diagnostic and therapeutic dilemmas. This review explains the vast aspects of furcation involvement in form of etiology, classification, diagnosis and different treatment modalities in detail.
