The present study was conducted to assess role of spirometry in early detection of cases of COPD. Materials & Methods: 84 patients of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) of both genders were enrolled and subjected to spirometry. Results: Out of 84 patients, males were 54 and females were 30. FEV1 >80 was present in 53, FEV1 50- 80 in 31, FER <0.7 in 45 and FEF25-75% < LLN in 38. The difference was significant (P< 0.05). Conclusion: Spirometry is useful in early detection of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Key words: COPD, Spirometry, FEV
