1Ex Senior Resident, Department of Orthodontics, AIIMS, New Delhi, Demineralized white spot lesions of enamel occur disturbingly around fixed orthodontic appliances, as oral hygiene becomes difficult to maintain, which induces a low resting pH plaque. If WSLs are left untreated, they can become esthetic problem or carious cavitations. Hence prevention is better than cure of WSLs, to minimize tooth decay.
