Anatomization of Impression Techniques in Fixed Prosthodontics-A Review

A successful dental restoration is mainly dependent on the accuracy of the dental impressions. An impression is an imprint or negative replica.A good quality impression is only obtained when we have a thorough knowledge of materials, their properties, and techniques for their best manipulation.There are several impression techniques developed to produce duplications as accurate as possible. The accuracy of an impression depends on the materials used for impression making as well as the techniques. Each technique has got its own advantages and drawbacks. There are many studies being conducted to develop more accurate techniques with various combinations of materials. The aim of this paper is to review all the techniques of impression making in fixed prosthodontics.
