Friction and Frictionless Mechanics
Jewel Elizabeth Renji, Sudhir Munjal, Satnam Singh, Harmeet Singh, Paramvir Singh Walia

Space closure requires the clinician’s ability to predict force system and control tooth movement after due consideration of the periodontal tissues. Orthodontic tooth movement during space closure is achieved through friction mechanics and frictionless mechanics. The selection of appropriate mechanics requires a thorough understanding of the clinical scenario and biomechanical principles. Keywords: Friction, frictionless mechanics, space closure, loops.
